DepEd OKs Antique schools as COVID-19 isolation centers

SAN JOSE, Antique – The Department of Education has approved the use of schools in the five municipalities in this province as quarantine centers for coronavirus disease 2019.

DepEd-Antique Schools Division Superintendent Felisa Beriong said on April 23 that the request of the mayors from the towns of Hamtic, Tibiao, Sibalom, Libertad, and here have been given the go signal by the regional office.

“The local government units (LGUs) will have to sign a document agreeing on the terms and conditions set by DepEd such as the management of the facility, the cleanliness of the place and the electricity bills,” Beriong said.

The LGUs will also provide security and food for its constituents under quarantine. Beriong added that the other 13 municipalities in this province also requested for the use of their schools as quarantine centers. Antique has 18 towns.
The letter of request should be accompanied with a certification from the Municipal Health Office that the school willing to be used as an isolation center has the necessary water system and toilet for those who will be undergoing quarantine there. 
Gov. Rhodora Cadiao, for herpart instructed the mayors of this province on April 22 to identify their schools that will serve as quarantine centers.
Antique is expecting the arrival of their constituents once the moderate community quarantine is implemented beginning May 1.
Homebound Antiqueños will be transported directly to approved facilities for a mandatory 14-day quarantine.(With a report from PNA/PN)
