BACOLOD City – Suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) tossed a grenade at her backhoe in Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, a woman told the police.
The 48-year-old Raquel Seguero – village councilwoman of Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City – said the incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 26.
The grenade exploded, damaging the backhoe.
No one was hurt, though, Seguero reported to the police around 12:30 a.m. yesterday.
She added that her workers cannot estimate the number of the suspected NPA members that attacked them.
The suspected rebels also took the workers’ cellular phones.
The workers were in Barangay Orong for a quarry operation.
Kabankalan City police were still verifying if the NPA was really responsible for the incident./PN
