DILG reshuffles city, prov’l directors

ILOILO City – Beginning July 1, this city and the provinces of Negros Occidental and Aklan will have new local government directors, according to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 6.

The reshuffling was an offshoot of consultations with city and provincial DILG directors themselves, said DILG-6 officer-in-charge Engineer Ariel Iglesia.

DILG Iloilo City director Ferdinand Panes’ new assignment would be as DILG provincial director of Negros Occidental.

On the other hand, Negros Occidental DILG chief Carmelo Orbista would be heading DILG Aklan.

Aklan DILG director Roy Defiño would be moving to Iloilo City.

Iglesia reminded them to properly turn over to their successors their respective offices’ records, money and property accountabilities, assigned tasks and responsibilities.

“This is part of the regular movement of officials. It’s the internal policy talaga na from time to time mag-mo-move,” said Iglesia.

The DILG directors of the other Region 6 provinces – Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras, and Capiz – would also be given new assignments.

“Anytime from now magkakaroon tayo ng movement,” said Iglesia.

Regarding DILG officials in municipalities, he said they have yet to return to their original assignments after they were reshuffled for the May 13 midterm elections.

DILG’s central office has yet to issue an order returning them to their original areas, said Iglesia./PN
