SAN JOSE, Antique – Eight education districts and one town were recognized as top-performing partners of the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6.
They were active in the national school-based de-worming, lymphatic filariasis mass drug administration (MDA) and school-based immunization (SBI).
The districts of Anini-y, Sibalom North, Hamtic South, Pandan, Sebaste, San Remigio l, San Remigio ll, and Bugasong got above-95 percent MDA and SBI coverage.
Diclum National High School (NHS), Callan NHS, Igcado NHS, and San Pedro NHS posted 100-percent MDA and SBI coverage.
San Jose de Buenavista, on the other hand, was the only town with 100-percent filariasis MDA coverage.
The awarding ceremony was held Monday, Dec. 19 at the Integrated Provincial Health Center.
DOH assistant regional director Paz Corrales, Antique officer-in-charge Julius Ceasar Tajanlangit and Integrated Provincial Health Center officer Ric Noel Naciongayo handed out the recognition.
Tajanlangit congratulated the schools’ heads. The MDA and the SBI are necessary to protect the children’s health, he said, adding that good health is the schoolchildren’s ticket to productivity.
Meanwhile Corrales said Antique’s accomplishment contributed a lot to the regional statistics. She urged the schools to continue the programs. (PNA)
