BORACAY – The Department of Tourism (DOT) office in the island was expecting to take in 17 cruise ship calls and 58,000 tourists in the first six months of this year.
The island is expected to accommodate 10 international cruise ships until June 8, the DOT-Boracay said.
MS World Dream of Dream Cruises already made port calls on Jan. 3, 10 and 24. It carried 12,000 cruise passengers.
Star Legend of Winstar Cruises also docked on Jan. 15 with 208 passengers and 164 crew members.
MS Costa Fortuna of Costa Crociere anchored on Jan. 20 and MS Chinese Taishan, also of Costa Crociere, on Jan. 18.
On Jan. 31, the 18-deck MS World Dream will sail to Boracay with 4,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members on board.
Three luxury ships were also scheduled to cruise to the island in February. Costa Neromantica of Costa Crociere will visit on Feb. 6 with 2,400 tourists while MS World Dream returns on Feb. 14 and 21.
Star Legend is also expected to arrive on Feb. 22.
MS Crystal Serenity of Crystal Cruises was set to bring in 1,700 passengers and crew members on March 10 while MS World Dream was set to visit on March 14 and 28, the DOT said.
Seven Seas Voyager of Regent Seven Seas Cruises with 1,100 tourists and crew members will have a port call on April 3 and Seabourn Sojourn of Seabourn Cruise Line, with 750 passengers and crew members, on April 20.
The DOT also announced the arrival of MV Ovation of the Seas of Royal Caribbean International with 4,905 passengers and 2,700 crew members on June 8. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
