ILOILO City- New equipment to be utilized for disaster response activities were recently turned over to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 by the Bureau of Equipment of the Department of Public Works and Highways Central Office in Manila.
The new equipment was composed of: 1 unit Volvo road milling machine with accessories; 5 units Hino dump truck; 4 units Stihl chain saw; 1 unit Doosan power light tower with generator; and 1 unit amphibious excavator, which are now under the custody of the Equipment Management Division headed by its chief, Engr. Ronnie C. Catuiran.
According to Engr. Catuiran, the equipment will be deployed in the District Engineering Offices (DEOs) in the region to be utilized in various disaster response operations, relief and rescue operations as well as in maintenance activities.
“The acquisition of the said equipment is very timely for emergency disaster response operations considering that Western Visayas had experienced series of natural phenomena such as typhoon and earthquakes,” Catuiran said.
Catuiran added that to date, the region has a total of 20 units of different types of equipment stationed in both the Regional Office and District Engineering Offices, ready for deployment when need arises./PN
