ILOILO City – A resident of Pavia, Iloilo died in a motorcycle crash on Christmas Day at the intersection of R. Mapa Street and Megaworld Boulevard in Barangay Airport, Mandurriao district.
The 20-year-old Wilsonjon Fan sustained severe head injuries and multiple abrasions on the body, a police report showed.
Fan was driving the motorcycle. His back rider, 21-year-old Merwin Lanzarote of Barangay Dungon B, Jaro, was injured.
The two were negotiating R. Mapa Street at around 3 a.m. when Fan lost control of the handlebar upon reaching the intersection on Megaworld Boulevard, said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit of the Mandurriao police station.
They fell on the pavement as a result. Both were drunk, police said.
Iloilo City Emergency Response team personnel rushed Fan to The Medical City Iloilo in Molo but Dr. Rey Gange pronounced him “dead on arrival” at around 3:48 a.m., the police report stated.
A medic at the Iloilo Business Park brought Lanzarote to the Western Visayas Medical Center for the treatment of his abrasions on the face, arms and legs.
Police discovered that Fan was driving the Denmark motorcycle, registered to Cuarismo Rufino of Pavia, without a driver’s license. The motorcycle was damaged./PN
