Drug suspect killed

BACOLOD City – An illegal drug suspect in Barangay 2 had been shot to death on early Thursday morning.

The killing of the 22-year-old resident Reymel Saldua Jr. could be drug-related, according to Senior Inspector Leo Gestopa, Police Station 2 chief.

Saldua was once detained in Police Station 2 for a drug offense and released last year, Gestopa said.

The drug suspect was with the 21-year-old Edmar Descutido of Barangay Banago when attacked.

Two mask-wearing people approached Saldua, who was sitting at a store, at around 3:35 a.m. and fired at him six times using a .45 pistol, investigation showed.

Saldua sustained gunshot wounds on the neck and arms.

He was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”

Descutido, on the other hand, had gunshot wounds on the chest. He was confined in the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.

Police have yet to identify and catch the gunmen and determine the motive as of this writing./PN
