ILOILO City – It’s too late now to say sorry.

A string of charges may be filed against a drunken resident of Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo who allegedly beat his wife and punched a police officer.

District police arrested Allan Tamayo, 23, and detained him at their station at around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Tamayo may have apologized to his wife and Police Officer 2 Leonard Aguitan but he will not be spared from charges, according to investigator Police Officer 3 Jessie Genterola.

On Thursday night police were informed about a fight between Tamayo and his wife, and later received from the wife a call for help.

Officers led by Aguitan tried to pacify Tamayo but instead of calming down, the latter punched Aguitan on the shoulders.

The Arevalo police station’s Women and Children Protection Desk refused to disclose the name of the wife.

“The suspect was later subdued and arrested,” Genterola said.

Tamayo admitted to hitting his wife over a misunderstanding and punching Aguitan. He said it was all because he was drunk, said Genterola.

The wife can file a charge for violation of the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004 against Tamayo, said Genterola, but it was not clear as of press time if the wife will.

Aguitan will lodge complaints for alarm and scandal, disobedience, resisting arrest, and physical injuries against Tamayo, the investigator said./PN
