MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte is open to lifting the ban on the entry of new casinos, Malacañang said on Thursday, after the Chief Executive recently encouraged more gaming activities.
The President gave the remark after he mentioned that revenues from government-owned and controlled corporations came in at over P61 billion as of July 2019, with nearly a third (32 percent or P16 billion) coming from PAGCOR.
“That would be the logical consequence of what he said,” presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said at a news conference when asked if Duterte’s pronouncement meant he was open to ending the ban on new casinos.
