ECC, PESO conduct seminar on ECP benefits in Tubungan

TUBUNGAN, Iloilo – The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) recently conducted a seminar on the benefits and services provided under the Employees’ Compensation Program (ECP) as part of their intensified information and communication activities in Tubungan, Iloilo.

The activity attended by small-business owners was facilitated by the ECC and Public Employment Services Office in Tubungan (PESO-Tubungan).

PESO head Emelyn Estando said the Local Government of Tubungan, Iloilo is thankful for this meaningful activity because business establishments were oriented about the welfare of their employees especially during accidents and unexpected circumstances.

Estando added, “Hambal gani nanda may idyan gali nga government agency nga naga protect sa workers kag nahibaloan ang mga benepisyo nga pwede ma-avail sang mga workers. Most importantly, ma-lessen ang burden sang mga employers if may mga aksidente nga matabo sa ila nga mga workers/employees at the same time, ma proteksyonan man ang aton workers.”

In the data provided by ECC Region 6, it has conducted more or less 50 seminars this 2019 covering Panay, Guimaras and Negros Occidental. They have also facilitated Employees Compensation (EC) claims filing and EC appealed cases assistance in the region.

ECC regional officer Stephene Barredo said a series of ECP seminars is set to be scheduled in Western Visayas again next year in 2020.

Barredo added that benefits and services on ECP should be claimed by every worker who meet work-related sickness, injury or death as part of their right to social protection under the Labor Code and Presidential Decree 626, as amended or the Employees’ Compensation and the State Insurance Fund.

The ECC, an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment, has been in operation since 2014 in Region 6, serving both private and public workers with work-related contingencies./PN
