BACOLOD City – A 63-year-old widow survived a stabbing in her house over the weekend in Barangay Purisima, Manapla, Negros Occidental.
Elizabeth Maniapao was rushed to the Dr. Ramon B. Gustilo Hospital for a stab wound on the chest.
Tagged suspect was 24-year-old Joselito Luciendo. He was at large.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Nov. 6 but was only reported the next day.
According to Major Joevito Bose, chief of the Manapla municipal police station, Maniapao was asleep when she was awakened and attacked by a drunken Luciendo using an unidentified bladed weapon.
Taking a shovel, the elderly tried to retaliate, but the suspect grabbed it and hit her instead.
The suspect managed to escape before the arrival of village watchmen.
A bloodstained shovel was recovered from the area./PN
