BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) recorded one violation of the election gun ban the Commission on Elections (Comelec) implemented yesterday.
The gun ban was in view of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls on Oct. 23.
Ilog municipal police apprehended the 33-year-old Arnel Resumado of Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental around 1 a.m., according to Nocppo director Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil.
Resumado was caught with a .38-caliber revolver loaded with three bullets in a checkpoint.
He was charged for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the election gun ban.
Meanwhile, no apprehensions were recorded in the city, said Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, director of the Bacolod City Police Office.
Wanky said the BCPO has put up checkpoints not only for the election gun ban but also for the MassKara festival.
The gun ban request is pending for approval at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Wanky said the request was their back-up plan in case the election will be postponed./PN
