
ILOILO City – After a heated argument, an electrical engineer of the Iloilo Electric Cooperative 1 was shot dead in Barangay Bayuco, Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Lany Mequirme, 40, a resident of the village, had a gunshot wound on the chin, a police report showed.
Javier Supe of Barangay Lanag, Tigbauan allegedly fired at Mequirme using a still unidentified caliber after an altercation outside Supe’s house around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 28.
From what the Tigbauan police station so far gathered, minutes before the shooting Mequirme confronted Supe after the latter allegedly mauled the former’s two nephews, Aljun and John Lester.
Mequirme was rushed to the Pedro G. Trono Memorial District Hospital in Guimbal, Iloilo where the attending physician declared him “dead on arrival.”
Supe, on the other hand, fled after the shooting. Police launched a manhunt./PN
