BACOLOD City – A former inmate was shot to death by still unidentified assailants in Purok Arao, Barangay Estefania.
The 37-year-old resident Joemar Parofil sustained gunshot wounds on the body, police said.
He was brought to a hospital in this city where the attending physician declared him “dead on arrival.”
According to police investigators, six motorcycle-riding men tried to handcuff Parofil after introducing
themselves as police officers.
Parofil was still able to flee but the suspects ran after him and peppered him with bullets around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Recovered from the crime scene were several empty shells of a .45-caliber revolver.
Lieutenant Rondel Tapang, Police Station 4 head, said the victim was arrested for violation of the anti-illegal drugs law last 2017.
Police officers have yet to identify the suspects and the motive in the incident./PN
