MANILA – F2 Logistics Cargo Movers made a return trip to the finals of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference after a 25-19, 25-23, 17-25, 25-19 win over Foton Tornadoes in the semifinals at the Muntinlupa Sports Center.

Kalei Mau top-scored with 16 points to go along with 12 digs and eight excellent receptions on Tuesday night while Ilongga Abigail Marano added 12 markers.

The Cargo Movers reached the All-Filipino Conference finals for the fourth straight year.

It failed to close out the match in the third set as the Tornadoes leaned on their fiery 5-0 start sparked by Ivy Perez’s three straight aces before Dindin and Jaja Santiago went to work to force another set.

The Cargo Movers erased a 13-14 deficit in the fourth and scored seven unanswered points led by Marano, Victorianara Galang and Mau for a 20-14 lead before Mary Joy Baron delivered back-to-back points for a 22-15 breather.

The Tornadoes answered with three straight points before Kim Dy stopped the bleeding, 23-18, while back-to-back attack errors from the Tornadoes sealed the championship for the Cargo Movers.

“Well, Foton was a big challenge. But entering the finals will be our biggest test. This is an unfinished business for us,” said Cargo Movers head coach Ramil de Jesus.

Meanwhile, Cignal HD Spikers forced a do-or-die game in the other semifinals series after a 25-20, 10-25, 16-25, 27-25, 15-11 upset over defending champions Petron Blaze Spikers.

Alohi Robins-Hardy came up with crucial hits for the HD Spikers midway in the fifth set before veterans Rachel Anne Daquis and Jovelyn Gonzaga put on the finishing touches to drag the series to a winner-take-all game tonight./PN
