ANTIQUE — A house made of light materials was destroyed by fire at around 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, in Barangay Igbical, Hamtic town.
Fire Officer 1 Ronnie Bendolph Ba-at, arson investigator for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Hamtic, said the homeowner, identified as alias “Monico,” had cooked boiled corn earlier that morning. After cooking, Monico left the house to inspect their water supply line.
However, he failed to notice that unattended live embers were left burning, which sparked the blaze.
Ba-at added in a K5 News FM interview that that the house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the scene. A “fire out” was declared at around 7:35 a.m.
According to the BFP Operational Procedures Manual, the estimated property damage reached P90,000. The fire destroyed household belongings, important documents, a videoke machine, and a welding machine.
