Fishpond caretaker yields P4.7-M ‘shabu’, gun

ILOILO – Approximately 704 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P4.7 million were seized from a fishpond caretaker in Barangay Lawis, Balasan town.

Balasan police also arrested the 28-year-old alias “Ronnel” classified as a high-value individual around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11.

Also recovered from the suspect was a homemade 12-gauge shotgun and buy-bust money.

The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms).

Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky lauded the Balasan police station for their dedication and commitment in the campaign against illegal drugs and firearms.

“Your recent output speaks of your dedication and commitment towards your work. Continue your monitoring and widen your vigilance in your area of responsibility. We want every community to be free from the menace of illegal drugs,” Wanky further told the Balasan police./PN
