ILOILO City – A woman and her one-year-old son died in a road mishap in Barangay Agboy Sur, Leon, Iloilo.
Emilyn Cañonero, 25, and son Eizekel, residents of the village, died of fatal head and body injuries at the Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian, Iloilo, police said.
The accident happened around 5:35 p.m. on July 11.
Emilyn was guiding her son on a kiddie bicycle along the road when they were hit by a pickup truck driven by 19-year-old Angelo Lipa, also a resident of Barangay Agboy Sur.
Lipa was reportedly drunk.
After hitting the victims, police added, Lipa did not stop but later crashed against a bridge in Barangay Anonang, Leon.
The suspect was detained at the Leon police station.
He would be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide, police said./PN
