BACOLOD City – A 32-year-old man from Barangay Linao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental was detained for allegedly killing the daughter of his girlfriend.
Erwin Laurico fled after stabbing the 16-year-old Rhea Prangkisa multiple times but later surrendered to Barangay Captain Albino Bendo.
Bendo turned Laurico over to the police, according to Superintendent Rhea Santos, officer-in-charge of the Kabankalan City police station.
Prangkisa was rushed to the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan but was declared “dead on arrival.”
According to the police, Prangkisa was opposed to her mother’s relationship with Laurico and their planned marriage.
Laurico attacked Prangkisa in the latter’s house on Tuesday, said the police.
It was learned that Laurico courted the mother — whom the police refused to identify — when the latter’s husband left them years ago.
Laurico was hauled to the Kabankalan City police station custodial jail./PN
