Global-Cebu FC players: Where are our salaries?

MANILA – Players from Global-Cebu Football Club vented their ire over the social media as they have yet to receive their salary from their stints in the 2018 Philippines Football League season.

Former Philippine Azkals mainstay Anton del Rosario called out Global-Cebu team owner Mark Jarvis as the latter were already negotiating with new players while they have yet to pay their players last year.

“How is it that the manager goes and talks to players about signing them and advancing wages when a lot of the players still haven’t gotten paid?” del Rosario wrote on his Facebook account.

Del Rosario also noted on his post that some of his teammates were only being fed cup noodles because they cannot put home-cooked meals on their table due to lack of finances.

Milan Nikolic also called out Jarvis for making promises that he couldn’t keep, especially with paying the team’s dues to its players.

“This is the first time in my career in which I saw that one person can own [a] club without money,” Nikolic said. “Because of the non-payment of the team for his services as their player, I was evicted from the condo unit that I am renting.”

The Cebu City-based football club was embroiled in financial woes last season with some of its PFL matches being cancelled./PN
