SAN JOSE, Antique – At the end of the annual Buruyluganay Festival in Sibalom, Rep. Paolo Everardo Javier announced that Antiqueños will benefit from free college tuition and hospitalization starting 2017.
Tuition in state universities and colleges will be free starting school year 2017-2018, Javier said in a phone patch.
“Your representative pushed for the infusion of reallocation of the P8.3 billion initially for projects for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to the Commission on Higher Education, and it was unanimously approved,” he said on Sunday evening.
“The Senate likewise approved the same, and it only showed that we are prioritizing the future of our young citizens,” he added.
Free hospitalization will also be afforded to poor Filipinos, including Antiqueños, said Javier.
“Medicines will also be available at the hospitals’ pharmacies,” he said. “This would lessen the burden of families when loved ones get confined in government hospitals.”
The festival, which started on Dec. 14, had the theme “Kami Rugya sa Sibalom, Buruyluganay sa Gihapon.” (PNA)
