BACOLOD City – Police arrested a man for allegedly raping two of his grandchildren in Barangay Banilad, Bacong, Negros Oriental.
The 71-year-old was detained at the Bacong police station lockup facility on Nov. 2, a police report showed.
He was facing rape charges filed by the Bacong police station and the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).
Police said the children’s parents went to the CHR to file a complaint against the suspect.
The CHR conducted an investigation and lodged the case before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.
On Sept. 27, the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office issued a resolution recommending the filing of case against the suspect.
Judge Maria Angelita Alcoran of the Regional Trial Court Branch 37 in Dumaguete City issued three warrants of arrest against the suspect for the case of one child alone, police said.
The court did not recommend a bail bond for his temporary liberty./PN
