GUIMARAS – Cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here have reached 1,042 since the pandemic started last year.
But with 885 cases having recovered and 30 dead, the province’s current active cases (as of July 7) were at 127, data from the provincial capitol showed.
The town with the highest active cases is Buenavista – 86, in the following barangays: Poblacion (32), Mclain (13), San Miguel (seven), Salvacion (five), Sto. Rosario (five), Bacjao (four), Piña (four), Mabini (three), East Valencia (two), Nazaret (two), Supang (two), Tinadtaran (two), Avila (one, Navalas (one), San Isidro (one), Old Poblacion (one), and Magsaysay (one).
On the other hand, Nueva Valencia has 15 active cases in barangays Lucmayan (five), Calaya (three), Pandaraonan (two), San Antonio (two), Cabalaohan (one), Dolores (one), and Napandong (one).
Sibunag has 11 active cases in the villages of Millan (six), Dasal (three) and Maabay (two).
Jordan has nine active cases in barangays Hoskyn (three), Alaguisoc (one), Balcon Maravilla (one), Poblacion (one), San Miguel (one), Sta. Teresa (one), and Bugnay (one).
Meanwhile, San Lorenzo has six active cases in barangays Tamborong (three), Constancia (two) and Gaban (one).
One hundred of the active cases are either in quarantined facilities in Guimaras, home quarantined, hospitals and/or quarantined in Iloilo City.
Data from the Department of Health in Region 6 were slightly different. Guimaras’ recorded cases since last year reached 1,039 with 871 having recovered and 20 dead, thereby leaving the province with 148 active cases./PN
