ILOILO City – Police were still locating a man who allegedly owned an unlicensed gun in Barangay Lumbia, Estancia, Iloilo.
Resident Geb Leuterio was accused of evading a police checkpoint around 11 p.m. on Dec. 29.
The suspect, on board a motorcycle, was bound for the town proper, according to Police Major Aldren Lamera, Estancia police chief.
Upon seeing the checkpoint, Leuterio halted his motorcycle and drove back, Lamera said.
A brief chase ensued, with the suspect allegedly pulling out a firearm and threw it along the road.
When the policemen verified, they recovered a .20-caliber gun loaded with several ammunition.
According to Leuterio, the suspect may face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
