BACOLOD City – Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition led to the arrest and detention of a pedicab driver and a laborer in San Carlos and Kabankalan cities in Negros Occidental, respectively.
Pedicab driver Warren Candilada, 31, and laborer Sylvestre Espartero, 22, were caught on Nov. 2, police said.
Candilada was arrested around 3:30 a.m. near San Juan Subdivision in Barangay 2, San Carlos City, a police report showed.
Recovered from Candilada were a .38-caliber pistol with two bullets and a gamecock, police said.
Espartero, on the other hand, was arrested around 11:12 p.m. in Barangay 1, Kabankalan City.
Senior Inspector Edgar Tonico, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City, said they recovered a .38-caliber revolver and a bullet for a .357 gun from Espartero.
Candilada and Espartero were detained at the San Carlos City police station and the Kabankalan City police station lockup facilities, respectively.
They were facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
