ROXAS City – A 25-year-old resident with a history of theft and drug offenses is back in police custody after selling an illegal firearm to undercover operatives in this city.
The suspect, identified by his aliases “Jerry” and “Tibag,” faces charges for violating Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Authorities said he was apprehended on Fortune Street, Barangay Banica on Saturday, October 31, during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the Roxas City Police Station, led by Police Captain Aladin Talaban.
During the sting, law enforcers recovered a caliber .22 revolver loaded with two live rounds, along with P3,500 in marked buy-bust money.
Barangay kagawad Manuel Bigay, in a DYVR RMN Roxas report, described the suspect as a persistent headache for local officials due to his ongoing illegal activities. According to Bigay, the suspect has a long record of theft in the area and is listed on the barangay drug watchlist.
The kagawad added that the suspect, a drug surrenderer, was previously imprisoned on drug-related charges but was released a few years ago through a plea bargaining agreement./PN
