High-value target yields P544,000 worth of ‘shabu’

ANTIQUE — A 46-year-old man tagged as a high-value suspect was arrested and over half a million pesos worth of suspected shabu was seized during a pre-dawn buy-bust operation in Barangay Funda-Dalipe, San Jose de Buenavista town, on Wednesday, January 28.

Joint operatives from the San Jose Municipal Police Station (MPS), the Antique Provincial Police Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Antique conducted the operation at around 2:15 a.m.

Authorities identified the suspect by the alias “Boy,” a resident of the town’s Barangay San Pedro. He yielded five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing around 80 grams of suspected shabu. The seized illegal drugs have an estimated street value of P544,000.

Also recovered were the buy-bust money and various non-drug-related items.

The suspect is currently in police custody for documentation and disposition. He faces criminal charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), specifically Section 5 (Sale) and Section 11 (Possession).

The said offenses carry the penalty of life imprisonment to death and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10,000,000./PN
