ROXAS City – Mayor Roberto Palomar highlighted Tapaz’s initiatives in maintaining peace and order not only in the town but in the province as a whole.
Palomar was invited to speak at a recent gathering of the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers, Inc.
“If we achieve stability in peace and order, development will definitely come in,” said the mayor.
The Philippine Army’s 61st Infantry Battalion held a peace and order briefing during the event held at its headquarters in Barangay Lagdungan, Tapaz.
According to the soldiers, nine of 16 towns in Capiz were classified as localities with “stable internal peace and security.”
Under the Duterte administration, the Philippine National Police intensified its campaign against drugs and other crimes.
In support to this, the local government of Tapaz established the Tapaz Security Force (TSF).
Palomar said the TSF helps the 32-strong police fight drugs and maintain peace and order in the 51,718-hectare town.
Its members conduct surveillance, investigation, arrest, confiscation of drugs within the limits of the law, he said.
To boost their capabilities, the local government provided the police a pickup vehicle with blinker and 32 security cameras with control monitor. It also raised their financial support on fuel, rice and office equipment. (PIA/PN)
