ILOILO City – Two key officials of the Iloilo City Police (ICPO) are swapping positions.
From being Jaro police commander, Chief Inspector Ruel Firmo will now lead the ICPO Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB).
IDMB head Chief Inspector Herbert Ballego will head the district police, said Inspector Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson.
According to Sangrines, the swapping of position was “intended for their career advancement.”
A police officer leading the IDMB must have undergone eligibility training on investigation.
Ballego has yet to undergo such training, Sangrines said.
“He will undergo training while he is Jaro police chief,” she said. “And since Firmo had such training, sia mabulos for the meantime.”
Ballego was leading the district police before Firmo took over the command in May.
Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso, ICPO director, said the swap is temporary.
“Gusto ta rin tagaan ng break si Firmo because my schooling na sia sa investigation,” Canieso said in a radio interview. “Ibutang sia muna natin sa investigation section naton.”/PN
