ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) arrested one of two riding-in-tandem suspects within 24 hours after they robbed a minor in Arevalo district.
The suspect, 35-year-old alias “Waray” of Barangay San Juan, Molo district, was apprehended by Iloilo City Police Station 6 (ICPS6) operatives, led by Police Captain Michael T. Tuburan, at around 2:15 p.m. on June 9 in Barangay East Baluarte, Molo.
His accomplice and backrider, identified by the alias “Ungal”, 45, a resident of Barangay Fundidor, Molo, remained at large as of press time. Manhunt operation was ongoing.
The arrest stems from an incident at around 7:32 p.m. on June 8, where a 14-year-old girl was robbed of her mobile phone worth P6,000 while standing near a store in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Arevalo. The suspects, wearing dark jackets and helmets with face coverings, fled on a white getaway motorcycle.
During the follow-up operation, police recovered both the victim’s stolen phone and the getaway motorcycle.
ICPO director Colonel Wilbert B. Parilla commended ICPS6 for their swift action and urged the remaining fugitive to surrender.
“This accomplishment reflects ‘Serbisyong Mabilis,’ strengthened by the support and cooperation of the community,” said Parilla. “We urged the remaining suspect to surrender and face the charges against him. You cannot hide forever from the law.”/PN
