
ILOILO — A 55-year-old male patient died of apparent self-harm while confined at the Dr. Ricardo Ladrido Memorial Hospital in Lambunao, Iloilo around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10.
In an interview with DYRI RMN Iloilo, Police Lieutenant Vincent Garcia, chief of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station, stated that initial investigation indicates the patient died from a self-inflicted stab wound to his chest.
The patient reportedly waited for his watcher to leave the room before using the knife to stab himself.
Authorities were still investigating how the weapon was brought into the victim’s room.
Meanwhile, the family has declined to provide further details regarding the victim’s medical condition or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Garcia added that the family believes no foul play was involved in the death.
