ILOILO City – Cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in this southern city continue to decline, with 34 active cases left as of Friday.
From 31,627 total confirmed cases recorded since 2020, 30,918 have already recovered, data from the Iloilo City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed.
On the other hand, 675 cases died.
This year, the city logged 8,777 confirmed cases with 73 deaths.
Of the 73 death toll, 50 were not vaccinated against COVID-19.
As for daily recording, no new cases were logged on March 27, March 29, April 2, April 3, and April 5 while in some other days recently, there were less than five new cases.
Mayor Jerry Treñas is hopeful that the decline in cases will be continue.
Currently, the city is under Alert Level 1 and working on to increase its booster (vaccination) accomplishment. It is eyeing an Alert Level 0 status where facemasks are no longer required./PN
