ILOILO City – Labor Day celebrations in this city were generally peaceful, according to the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Even with protests conducted by progressive groups, no untoward incidents were reported, according to ICPO spokesperson, Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines.

“Ang na-deploy naton nga mga kapulisan bastante apisar nga pila ka mga grupo ang nagpatigayon sang hublag protesta. Although may mga gagmay kita nga concerns nga gin-address, nadala man sa maximum tolerance kag peaceful nga pag-negotiate,” said Sangrines.

The ICPO increased police visibility particularly in the City Proper where the groups held their protests.

The city police also observed that progressive groups that participated this year were mostly from the province./PN
