Iloilo province lands Top 3 spot in nat’l search for best population and dev’t programs

ILOILO – This province has emerged as one of the Top 3 finalists in the prestigious Rafael M. Salas Kaunlarang Pantao National Award (RMSKPA) — a recognition that positions Iloilo among the country’s leading local governments in people-centered population and development governance.

The Commission on Population and Development (CPD), which confers the award, cited Iloilo for its “exceptional efforts in advancing population and development initiatives that significantly enhance the quality of life of constituents.”

Atty. Ruel Von Superio, head of the Provincial Population Office (PPO), said the recognition reflects years of sustained, community-driven work anchored on inclusive policies and effective program implementation.

“This recognition is a motivation for us to continue our work with even greater passion,” said Superio. “It reflects our collective commitment to people-centered governance and to creating a brighter future for our communities.”

The RMSKPA honors local government units that demonstrate exemplary governance, strategic planning, and measurable impact in addressing population dynamics — such as poverty alleviation, healthcare access, education, and responsible population management.

Iloilo’s selection as a national finalist highlights its expansive network of programs tailored to local needs, supported by collaborations among provincial leaders, community workers, and residents. These efforts, officials noted, have contributed to improved living conditions and empowered households across the province.

The winner in the provincial category will be announced during the awarding ceremony on November 26, 2025, at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Quezon City, to be attended by government officials, private sector partners, and civil society groups./PN
