Iloilo province wants own local transport route plan

Iloilo Provincial Capitol

ILOILO – The provincial government has submitted to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) a proposed Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP).

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Region 6 hopes it would be approved. Its legal counsel, Atty. Jun Altura, is in Metro Manila with Regional Director Richard Osmeña to follow it up and hopefully expedite the approval.

The province’s LPTRP proposes nine new routes and 59 rationalized routes. These are the following:

* Oton – Santa Barbara – Leganes

* Poblacion, Oton to Iloilo International Airport (Cabatuan)

* Oton – Santa Barbara – Zarraga – Dumangas Port

* Tubungan – Iloilo City (Mohon Terminal) via Leon

* Passi City – San Enrique – Anilao – Barotac Nuevo – Dumangas

* Tubungan- Igbaras – Miag-ao

* Pavia – Iloilo City (ITGSI) – via Circumferential Road 1

* San Miguel – Cabatuan

* Barotac Viejo – San Rafael

“Kinahanglanon ta ini. Bal-an mo basta may i-implement nga LPTRP ang isa ka local government pareho sang Iloilo City, it will have a domino effect sa surrounding local governments,” said Altura.

The Iloilo City LPTRP, for example, has displaced provincial jeepneys that were previously allowed to enter the city; now, they are prohibited. The provincial LPTRP would give them new routes.
