MANILA – Ilonggo taekwondo jin Cyd Edryc Esmaña delivered a bronze medal for the Philippines during the Online 2020 World Taekwondo Asia Poomsae Open Championships held over the weekend.
Esmaña, a standout from the Iloilo MVP Taekwondo Gym, captured the award in the cadet male category, where he finished fourth among 88 competitors with his 7.130 points.
Aside from Esmaña, Ilongga jin Julianna Martha Uy competed in the cadet female side and settled at seventh place with 7.480 points.
Meanwhile, Darius Venerable, a mixed team event silver medalist in the 30th Southeast Asian Games last year, gave the country a gold medal in the men’s free style event.
Venerable trumped representatives from Korea and Indonesia with a 7.02-point performance to top his category.
Moreover, Zyka Santiago of reigning two-time UAAP poomsae champion De La Salle University and Nastassia Limos of UST also garnered bronze medals./PN
