ILOILO City — The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) intensified its crackdown on illegal drugs in February, seizing P42.5 million worth of suspected shabu and apprehending 62 drug personalities across the province.
Data from the IPPO showed that the month-long operations resulted in the confiscation of approximately 6.6 kilograms of shabu. Of those arrested, 24 were classified as high-value individuals (HVI) while 38 were identified as street-level individuals (SLI).
One of the most significant operations in the final week of February occurred on February 27 in Barangay San Antonio, Ajuy, Iloilo. Authorities arrested the 38-year-old alias “Mon”, a resident of the said barangay, at around 7:15 p.m. after he sold P3,600 worth of shabu to a police poseur-buyer.
Operatives recovered approximately 362 grams of the illegal substance with a standard drug price value of P2.5 million
IPPO director Colonel Bayani Razalan commended the various police chiefs for their dedication and successful efforts in removing a massive volume of illegal drugs from the streets. He also challenged all unit commanders to further intensify their monitoring of drug suspects within their respective jurisdictions.
“We will not stop running after drug peddlers through strong coordination with barangay officials and intelligence monitoring of the movements of drug suspects,” Razalan said./PN
