KALIBO, Aklan – Crime volume in this capital town has gone down, figures from the municipal police station showed.
From January to November this year, 2,098 crimes were recorded — 21.68 percent lower than the 2,679 in the same period in 2015.
Most of the crimes were recorded in January (298), October (226) and February (209).
Index crimes fell 27.83 percent to 700 this year from 970 last year, while non-index crimes slid down 18.13 percent to 1,399 from 1,709.
Index crimes are crimes against persons. They include homicide, rape, murder, homicide, and physical injury.
Murder and homicide cases rose 50 percent to nine from six, while rape cases went down 21.42 percent to 11 from 14.
Rape cases in November and April were four and three, respectively.
No murder case was recorded in 2015, police records showed.
Physical injury cases increased 3.19 percent to 344 this year from 333 last year.
On the other hand, non-index crimes this year had a downward trend — from 169 cases in January to 109 in November.
Robbery cases decreased 8 percent to 46 this year from 50 last year.
A decline in theft (49.6 percent, to 259 from 514) and motor vehicle theft (35.7 percent, to 27 from 42) cases was also noted.
