KALIBO, Aklan – In light of recent attacks involving 17-year-olds, the local government is strictly enforcing the curfew for minors.
The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) wants the curfew put into effect in a bid to prevent similar attacks, according to SB member Buen Joy Villanueva-French.
“Curfew starts at 10 p.m. and ends at 5 a.m. of the following day,” the town councilor said on Thursday.
Two 17-year-old male residents of Barangay Andagao were charged with murder in what appeared to be indiscriminate attacks of a computer shop customer and a student in the village on Sunday.
Armed with knives, Mark Bel “Alas” Donieto and Randell Dave “Kiwit” Borga entered BFF Internet Café on Roxas Avenue Extension around 10:08 p.m. on Sunday and stood behind Lester Radin, 21, of Barangay Napnot, Madalag, who was playing a computer game, police said.
Donieto slashed Radin’s throat and, along with Borga, hurriedly walked away, police said, citing a security camera footage that captured the incident.
Outside the computer shop, Borga stabbed Eril Gabriel Perucho, 19, of Barangay Union, Nabas, who was walking on the street, police said.
Perucho was taken to the Saint Gabriel Medical Center in Barangay Poblacion.
The third year architecture student of the Aklan State University’s College of Industrial Technology died on Monday morning. He had a stab wound on the back.
Donieto was detained in the lockup cell of the Kalibo police station while Borga was hauled to the Aklan Rehabilitation Center in Barangay Nalook. (With Philippine News Agency/PN)
