Kaya Iloilo eyes share of lead in PH Football League today

MANILA – Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo FC will gun for a share of the lead in the 2019 Philippines Football League as it faces today the dangerous Mendiola FC 1991 in the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

The match is slated at 3:30 p.m. The Ilonggos hope to improve its 19 points (six wins, one draw, one loss) for a chance to tie defending champions Ceres-Negros FC (22 points) in first place.

This will be the second time both teams are facing each other following their encounter on June 19 where Kaya-Iloilo scored a 6-3 victory behind Jordan Mintah’s hat trick.

Kaya-Iloilo is well-rested heading into the match this afternoon. Its last game was on July 14 – a 1-0 victory over Stallion-Laguna FC behind the lone conversion of Darryl Roberts.

The Ilonggos were supposed to play Saturday last week against the Global Makati FC but it was postponed to a later date with the latter unable to field a team.

Kaya-Iloilo, however, could not take their opponent lightly as the Mendiola was coming from a 5-2 stunner over Green Archers United FC on Wednesday with Jim Ashley Flores tallying three hits.

Mendiola is currently at fifth spot in the standings with seven points, on two wins, one draw and five losses./PN
