MANILA – The government is targeting the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) shift of all local government units (LGUs) by first quarter of 2021, a Department of Health (DOH) official said.
DOH along with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has set targets or measures to determine whether theLGU would be allowed to ease their coronavirus restriction.
“Isa po diyan ang indicators for gatekeeping sa local governments. Ibig sabihin kailangan ‘yung mga surveillance system, contact tracing ay efficient,” DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said.
Vergeire added that the LGUs should also have sufficient capacity to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and efficient measures in place to detect, isolate and treat infected individuals.
“Aming tinitignan na by the first quarter of 2021, hopefully, all local governments might be able to shift to MGCQ already because they have achieved their gatekeeping indicators,” Vergeire said.
The IATF-EID has placed Metro Manila, Batangas, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, and Iligan City under general community quarantine for the entire November while the rest of the country will be under MGCQ./PN
