MANILA – Generika-Ayala Lifesavers is set to face a team composed collegiate volleyball players from Western Visayas in an exhibition game as part of Bingawan, Iloilo’s fiesta on Jan. 23.
The Philippine Superliga team is to be led by Bingawan-native Fiola Ceballos, Ilongga Ma. Shaya Adorador as well as Negros Occidental-based players Patty Jane Orendain and Genevieve Casugod.
Also in the squad are imports Katarina Pilepic and Penina Snuka as well as local players Mary Grace Masangkay, Angeli Araneta, Angelica Legacion, Mikaela Lopez, and Fatima General.
However, it is still unsure who will handle Lifesavers in the exhibition match after recently parting ways with head coach Francis Vicente.
Vicente will focus on University of the East Lady Warriors in UAAP.
Bingawan mayor Mark Plagata Palabrica told Panay News they are still ironing out some minor details before releasing the venue as well as ticket details of the exhibition match.
“We are happy that Generika has agreed to play here in Bingawan despite being in the middle of their preparation for the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix next month,” Palabrica said.
The Lifesavers-WV selection exhibition is organized by the municipal government and Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council of Bingawan, Iloilo./PN
