BACOLOD City – Lightning struck another man in Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.
The 33-year-old resident Reynaldo Alanza was killed, the report further stated.
Alanza was in a rice farm when lightning hit him around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
He was rushed to the Bago City Hospital where the attending physician pronounced him “dead on arrival.”
Alanza’s death is the 12th case of its kind in Negros Occidental in two months.
These are on top of 35 cases of injured individuals in the same period, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Division (PDRRMD).
On May 25, four people were killed while four others were hurt after lighting struck them in Barangay Don Salvador Benedicto, Pontevedra town.
On May 22 , a man also died after lighting struck him while he was on his way home in Barangay Andres Bonifacio, Cadiz City.
On the same day, 11 people – mostly minors – have been injured after lighting hit near a chapel in Barangay Ma-ao.
According to the PDRRMD, the deadliest lightning incident was reported in Barangay Manlucahoc, Sipalay City last April 18 – six individuals were killed and 17 others were injured./PN
