ILOILO City – Accused of possessing a loose firearm, a 70-year-old man was detained at the police station in Pavia, Iloilo yesterday.
Officers arrested Guilermo Jancilan after finding in his house a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver, a police report showed.
Joint elements of the Pavia and Santa Barbara municipal police stations and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office raided Jancilan’s house in Barangay Cabugao Sur, Pavia at around 7 a.m., the report stated.
The operation was made on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Gloria Madero of the Regional Trial Court Branch 29.
The revolver was loaded with three live cartridges, police said.
Jancilan was facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, specifically Section 28 (Unlawful Acquisition, or Possession of Firearms and Ammunition). (Ruby Silubrico and Ian Paul Cordero/PN)
