BACOLOD City — A 56-year-old man was apprehended for alleged robbery and possession of illegal drugs in Barangay Garagato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, at 3:20 p.m. on October 27.
The suspect, known by his alias “Casio,” 26, jobless and a resident of the area, was arrested by personnel of the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station following a complaint from the victim. The victim, whose name is being withheld, is also 56 years old and a resident of the same barangay.
Police said the suspect gained entry through the back of the house, climbing a wall and detaching a portion of the temporary plywood wall near the staircase. When the victim discovered several items missing, he asked a neighbor to report the incident to the subdivision guard. The guard arrived promptly, leading to the suspect’s apprehension.
The stolen items were valued at around P15,000.
During a search incidental to arrest, authorities recovered a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu from the suspect’s right shorts pocket. The gram of alleged illegal substance was estimated to be worth P6,800.
The suspect is now facing charges for robbery and violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and remains detained at the police station./PN
