BACOLOD City – A man was sleeping in their store in a public market in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental when an unidentified suspect shot him around 12 a.m. yesterday.
Rodel Laparan of Barangay Mabigo, Canlaon City was rushed to the Canlaon District Hospital where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”
Laparan sustained gunshots on the right abdomen, a police report showed.
An empty shell of a .45-caliber firearm was recovered from the crime scene.
Police have yet to identify the suspect and the motive in the shooting./PN
Electric wire ‘thief’ nabbed

BACOLOD City – Police caught a man detaching an electrical wire from a post in Purok Banawi, Barangay Villamonte.
The 35-year-old Carlos Amahit was charged for violating Republic Act 7832, or the Anti-Electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act of 1994.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, a police report showed.
Amahit was detained./PN
