BACOLOD City – A man was shot by unidentified gunmen in Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental late Friday night.
The 36-year-old Michael Soledad was a resident of the said place.
Police Captain Joelan Vinzon, deputy police chief of Himamaylan City, said the victim was in a drinking session with friends in his home when two unidentified gunmen approached Soledad’s wife.
The suspects asked Soledad’s wife about the whereabouts of a certain alias “Kulot”. When Soledad replied, the gunmen opened fire and immediately fled.
The victim was rushed to the Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital but was declared “dead on arrival” by the attending physician.
Police recovered two empty .9mm shells at the crime scene.
Investigators believed the murder was connected to the insurgency in the area. Soledad and his family were originally residing in the mountainous area of the city./PN
