BACOLOD City – Police were still trying to identify the suspects in shooting to death a meat shop worker on corner Rizal-Lopez Jaena streets in Barangay 26.

Two bonnet-wearing armed men fired at the 36-year-old July Gelarso on Tuesday.

While the suspects were captured by a nearby security camera, police found difficulty recognizing their faces because of the bonnets, said Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, Police Station 4 commander.

Gelarso was a resident of Calatrava, Negros Occidental but temporarily staying in Barangay Handumanan.

He was binge-drinking with friends when the suspects suddenly appeared and peppered him with bullets. He was hit on the head and back, investigation showed./PN
