BACOLOD City – Seven people landed in the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after the minibuses they were riding collided into each other on Mabini Highway in Barangay Zone 5, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Superintendent Adonis Rosales, Talisay City police chief, said the following were injured:
* Josephine Butalid, 48; Dinah Taganile, 47; and Delba Maguate, all of Barangay San Isidro, Toboso
* Tara John Onsec and Ronilo Sanchez of Barangay Madalag, EB Magalona
* Nenita Lauresta of Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City
* Iggy Pacheco of La Carlota City
One of the minibuses (plate number FWU-318) was driven by Rogelio Ogahayon of Toboso. The other one (plate number FWP-943) was driven by Rene Bocatot of Barangay San Isidro, also of Toboso.
One of them suddenly stopped on a red light, causing the succeeding minibus to crash into the rear of the preceding vehicle, police said. It was not immediately clear which minibus was in what position.
Both minibuses were bound for this capital city from Escalante City when the accident transpired around 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
Ogayahon said he had about 30 passengers, while Bocatot had around 20. Both were in the custody of the Talisay City police pending further investigation./PN
